Set into the hillside of Beverly Hills’ Trousdale Estates, this 18,000-square-foot residence was conceived as a rigorous exploration of Brutalist architecture, raw precision, and industrial elegance. Organized around a circular motor court, the structure is enveloped by rhythmic, monolithic board-formed concrete walls that function as both privacy screens and kinetic light sculptures. Ninety-six concrete columns and skylights transform solid mass into a dynamic interplay of weight and void. Framed views of the city unfold throughout, most dramatically in the living room, where glass walls open directly onto an infinity-edge pool and panoramic skyline.
The architectural rigor carries through to the interiors, where an unapologetically industrial vocabulary defines the space, featuring floor-to-ceiling riveted steel doors, raked stone floors, perforated metal wall panels, aluminum light fixtures, and aviation cabinetry. Materials repeat with conviction, and every element — from lighting to furniture — was custom-designed in harmony with the architecture. Our hope was to create a residence that exists somewhere between a Brutalist retreat, a modernist observatory, and a precision-built machine.

THE LIVING ROOM
The living room is anchored by a custom-designed, turbine-inspired fireplace, set against exposed structural concrete beams.
Retractable glass walls that disappear into an underground concrete vault, dissolve the boundaries between indoors and outdoors.

ART INSTALLATIONS
Positioned beneath a skylit corridor off the main living area, a custom concept motorcycle by Confederate Motors is displayed on a raised platform — treated as inhabitable art.
MATERIALS + LIGHT FIXTURES
The structural steel columns and concrete beams intersect with perforated metal walls and ceilings, while the tumbled aluminum material used for the doors, light fixtures, and industrial-grade cabinetry were inspired by an early client reference — a raw aluminum business card.
Throughout the home, lighting serves both practical and sculptural purposes. The pendants and chandeliers were designed in collaboration with the client’s product team.

ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING
Just beyond the living room, the infinity pool and spa mirror the home's linear geometry and material rigor. Structural concrete pillars frame views of the city and Pacific Ocean, casting shifting shadows across the façade throughout the day. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels and skylights maximize daylight penetration, emphasizing the crisp lines and volumetric clarity of the architecture. Together, these elements create a dynamic interplay between light, form, and reflection.
SCULPTURAL BATHTUB
In the primary bathroom, the monumental, steampunk steel bathtub is anchored on a platform, commanding the room. Etched with a phrase in Tolkienian Elvish, the fixture blurs the line between art, utility, and function.
