Positioned at the top of Beverly Hills’ prestigious Trousdale Estates, this newly built residence was designed to leave visitors questioning whether it’s a contemporary ground-up home or a thoughtfully evolved original estate. The 10,000-square-foot home is shaped by art, materiality, light, and its commanding natural setting. Beyond the façade, the architecture unfolds into a sequence of light-filled spaces, where shifting shadows animate the interiors throughout the day and curated vistas frame sweeping views of Los Angeles beyond.
The home is organized around a central eight-foot-wide gallery that stretches nearly 100 feet through the residence, illuminated by a continuous skylight articulated with reclaimed wood beams. This sculptural spine guides movement through the house from entry to backyard while unifying the living spaces within. Along its axis, a series of rooms unfold, defined by bespoke furnishings designed by our studio and layered with vintage lighting, antiques, mid-century pieces, and artworks collected by the homeowners over decades of international travel. Floor-to-ceiling steel and glass connect each room to outdoor spaces designed for distinct vantage points, a gesture most fully realized in the Grand Room, where interiors are immersed in greenery and natural light. The spine extends outward to shaded terraces beneath a cantilevered canopy and an oval pool framed in vein-cut travertine.

CIRCULATION + SPATIAL ORGANIZATION
A 100-foot gallery organizes movement through the residence, illuminated by a continuous skylight with reclaimed wood beams, excavated from beneath the sea. A secondary perpendicular axis defined by a brick wall with glass at either end separates public and private zones, while a double-height entry volume, illuminated from above, establishes a strong vertical connection to the lower-level art space.
THE GRAND ROOM
The Grand Room spans the full width of the property with expansive glass walls at either end framing lush gardens and sweeping valley views, and filling the interiors with natural light.
Furnishings include two large custom-designed L-shaped sofas upholstered in textured Brunschwig & Fils and Metaphores fabrics, a pair of vintage Art Deco swivel lounge chairs in Coup d’État crushed gold velvet, an antique Biedermeier walnut game table, and a 13.5-foot antique Italian dining table illuminated by a copper tubular chandelier by Reschio. The space is further anchored by a jeweled bar in black and gold marble with a custom fluted wooden face.

DECORATIVE LIGHTING
Decorative lighting throughout the residence features vintage European pieces, including several fixtures by renowned mid-century Italian designer Angelo Lelii.
INTERIORS INSPIRATION
Two vintage Moroccan rugs acquired in Fez more than 17 years ago served as an early inspiration for the home’s interior palette, informing a design language that balances handmade warmth with relaxed elegance and timeless character. Rich textures, layered color, and striking material finishes create a warm, tactile environment.
MATERIALS + FINISHES
A curated palette of bold, enduring materials defines each space, from handcrafted Moroccan tiles and striking marble surfaces to custom burl wood doors and reclaimed brick and beams. Materials are intentionally composed to meet, intersect, and contrast, creating visual interest and a sense of timeless elegance. Subtle brass accents introduce understated detailing, while custom-finished wood floors provide a continuous, grounded base throughout the home. Signature iron and glass doors and windows bring in natural light and strengthen the connection to the surrounding landscape.
THE PRIMARY SUITE
The Primary Suite is anchored by a custom-designed headboard and bedframe upholstered in Claremont Kea Tigers Eye fabric. An oversized 36-inch diameter vintage brass and fabric ceiling fixture is mounted above, complemented by Stahl + Band lanterns positioned over the vintage mid-century nightstands. The space includes a large-scale painting by America Martin, a hand-knotted rug, and a pair of face lamps by Dominique Pouchain with custom shades.
The Primary Bath features Calacatta Paonazzo marble across the shower, floors, and countertops, with a decorative Petite Granite inlay. A curated collection of nude artwork—including a gallery wall anchored by a lithograph created for the client more than 40 years ago by a friend—adds a personal dimension, complemented by vintage decorative lighting by J. T. Kalmar.
HARDWARE
Hardware was carefully sourced room by room, with many selections featuring distinctive vintage mid-century and Brutalist designs that further reinforce the home’s layered character.
CREATIVE SPACES
THE BASEMENT
The basement is conceived as a multifunctional level dedicated to creative work, wellness, and leisure. At the base of the stairs, a hallway leads to the in-home theater, with discreet wine storage and integrated mini refrigerators. The media room features custom seating with integrated tray tables, along with Lawson-Fenning swivel chairs upholstered in tobacco-colored Dedar velvet mohair, paired with two 1970s Brutalist-style tables by Adrian Pearsall. Lighting includes two pairs of vintage Maison Petitot brass sconces with tall tapered black shades, as well as a pair of brass Brutalist-style lamps. Adjacent to the theater, a shared art studio is outfitted with a custom marble art sink and large wrought-iron and wood rolling worktables designed for flexible use.
The level also includes a fully equipped gym with an integrated dry sauna and spa bath. The bath is clad in green and white Moroccan tile, with Calacatta Viola marble floors and countertops, and is complete with a steam shower.

THE GUEST SUITE
Set apart from the main residence, the guest house is conceived as a private retreat—detached yet visually linked through a shared overhang that extends the roofline. The structure opens to its own garden patio, furnished with a dining set and surrounded by potted plantings.
The interiors include a bedroom, a closet area with a compact kitchenette—complete with a coffee and tea station and integrated mini refrigerator—and a light-filled bathroom. The bath is clad in blue and white Moroccan tile with Crema del Monte marble floors and countertops, and a pair of mid-century Brutalist sconces. The bedroom is anchored by a bold, textured diamond-pattern headboard in Nobilis Yaruba fabric, paired with a custom-designed niche sofa in coordinating Nobilis blue velour. Original mid-century campaign-style furnishings and vintage lighting—including a sculptural floor lamp by Boris De Beijer in collaboration with Benedikt Fischer—complete the space.

THE BACKYARD
A vein-cut travertine terrace extends the architecture into the landscape, framing outdoor living spaces with sweeping views of Los Angeles’ West Side and the Valley beyond. At its center, an oval pool—detailed in carved solid stone coping—echoes the geometry of the cantilevered canopy and anchors the site as a sculptural focal point.
